Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers Degree Scholarship – $1,000

Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) has established an annually funded award at the University of Manitoba.  MPSG wishes to encourage Agriculture Degree students to develop an interest and technical competence in pulse and soybean production, processing and marketing.

Each year, one scholarship valued at $1,000 will be awarded to an undergraduate student who:

  • has completed the first two years of study in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0;
  • proceeds in the next ensuing academic year to the third year of study in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences;
  • has an interest in pulse and soybean crops as demonstrated by the writing of an essay on a topic related to the pulse and soybean industry.  Essays should be a maximum of 500 words and should include information on the following: (i) opportunities and challenges for pulses and soybeans in Manitoba, (ii) the current state of Manitoba’s pulse and soybean industry, and (iii) promoting pulses to consumers.

The applicant selected for this award will have their essay published in the Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers magazine, Pulse Beat.

The selection committee shall be the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences Awards Committee.

The donor will notify the Financial Aid and Awards office by March 31 in any year the scholarships are not to be offered.

Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) has established an annually funded award at the University of Manitoba.  MPSG wishes to encourage Agriculture Diploma students to develop an interest and technical competence in pulse and soybean production, processing and marketing.

Each year, one scholarship valued at $1,000 will be awarded to a student who:

  • has completed the first year of study in the School of Agriculture with a minimum sessional grade point average of 3.0;
  • is enrolled in a minimum 80 percent course-load and will be eligible to graduate at the end of the academic for which the award is given;
  • has an interest in pulse and soybean crops as demonstrated by the writing of an essay on a topic related to the pulse and soybean industry.  Essays should be a maximum of 500 words and should include information on the following: (i) opportunities and challenges for pulses and soybeans in Manitoba, (ii) the current state of Manitoba’s pulse and soybean industry, and (iii) promoting pulses to consumers.

Assiniboine Community College

Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers  Agribusiness Bridging Award – $1,000

Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) wishes to encourage Agriculture Diploma students enrolled at Assiniboine Community College (ACC) to develop an interest and technical competence in pulse production, processing and marketing.

A scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a student who:

  • has completed Year I of the Agribusiness diploma program as a full-time student and be returning for Year II of the Agribusiness diploma program as a full-time students at ACC
  • has achieved academic achievement in Year 1 of the diploma program by earning a GPA of at least 3.0
  • has achieved the highest combined GPA in the following courses: Soils (AGRC-0088), Plant Science (AGRC-0100), Soil Fertility & Fertilizers (AGRC-0092), Crop Production Systems (AGRC-0219), Disease and Insect Management (AGRC-009).
