2026 Harvest Sample Program- Canadian Grain Commission
The Harvest Sample Program is a voluntary program that benefits Canadian grain producers and the entire grain value chain.
If you received a kit and submitted a sample last year, you don’t need to sign up again this year. You will receive this year’s kit just before harvest.
If you are signing up for the first time, the deadline to sign up to participate for this crop year is Nov. 13.

Even if you have a good idea of your grain’s grade, send in your samples as soon as your harvest is complete.
- Step 1. Take a representative sample of your grain
- Step 2. Complete information on the envelope
- Step 3. Fill the envelope
- Step 4. Seal the envelope
- Step 5. Mail it
Sample envelopes are postage-paid. Simply drop them off at any Canada Post drop-off location.
Get Your Results Automatically
If you provided an email address when signing up for the Harvest Sample Program, your grading results will be emailed to you as soon as grading is completed.
Your final report, including all quality results, will be emailed to you within 15 business days from when the Canadian Grain Commission receives your samples.
For each sample for pulses and soybeans, inspectors provide unofficial grade and quality results at no charge, including:
- Protein content on beans, lentils, and peas
- Oil and protein for soybeans
Your samples are crucial to help with marketing Canadian grain, evaluating grain grading standards, and conducting research that benefits the entire Canadian grain sector.
