The On-Farm Network (OFN) is facilitating the harvest of field scale on-farm research trials when, like all other farmers, the weather allows for it. To-date, we’ve collected yield data on three field pea trials and two faba bean trials.
Pea trials harvested:
- Double inoculation (Osmium liquid on-seed + Nitrogen row granular in-furrow) versus single inoculation (Osmium liquid on-seed)
- Double fungicide application (Delaro/Delaro) versus single fungicide application (Delaro)
- Biostimulant product (Wave) versus untreated
Faba bean trials harvested:
Seeding rates:
- 110,000 seeds per acre
- 150,000 seeds per acre
- 190,000 seeds per acre
Insecticide (Carbine (targeting lygus bug) versus untreated)
The next trials coming up to harvest will be eight dry bean trials followed by soybean trials shortly thereafter. As always stay tuned for these important results!
It’s important to note that On-Farm Network trials don’t often show significant yield differences between treatments (for example a biological product input compared to untreated, or a single fungicide compared to untreated) or between management practices such as seeding rates or seeding equipment (for example in soybean production a planter compared to an air seeder). Knowing these relevant results either on your own farm or from trials conducted in your own region can be used to make better management decisions and may result in potentially large savings on your farm.
