In the month of June 2026, Manitoba has experienced such intense rain, wind, and hail storms over so many areas.
At Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers, we are holding all of our farmers in our thoughts and wishing them the best as they move forward through a very challenging crop year. Each farm and farmer is facing their own unique circumstances in dealing with what Mother Nature has brought us.
If we notice our fields struggling or showing signs of being under stress, we get curious and talk to others about how to solve the potential issues in the field and what investments may be helpful.
Please do the same with yourself and your mental health.
We totally agree with this advice.
The best investment farmers can make in a year like this is being kind to themselves and others. Going for a walk….texting, calling a neighbour, stopping on the side of the road when you see a neighbour scratching their head, looking at their fields, wondering what to do…going to a town fair – that’s all great maintenance for our mental health. It not only helps quash one’s own feelings of isolation but it’s a reminder others around us are going through the same turmoil. Be kind with each other when trying to find solutions.

You, your family, and your employees are more important things on your farm.
Talking can help.
Reaching out for extra support during challenging times is very important and why the Manitoba Farmer Wellness program is here with free services that can be accessed in a variety of ways including digitally and remotely.
We understand the many challenges that come with farming. It can be difficult to know where to turn for help when stress on the farm begins to feel overwhelming. You are not alone! We created this program specifically for farmers, your families and employees – to offer a safe and flexible way for you to get the help you’re looking for. Our no-cost, short-term counselling program is delivered by professionals with backgrounds in agriculture and your information is completely confidential. Giving you the peace of mind to remain anonymous when looking for help. We will cover the cost of nine sessions per individual. We want you to focus on getting the support you need without the worry of paying for the service.
