The Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) Bean app features unique and interactive tools to assist soybean and dry bean farmers with important crop production decisions such as seeding rates and fungicide applications. The Bean App is free and available for Android (Google Play) and Apple (iTunes) users.

This will help you find the most economical seeding rate for your soybeans. This tool helps you identify the optimum soybean plant stand, based on current market price and expected yield, and estimate the seed survival rate, resulting in the most profitable seeding rate(s). This tool utilizes research results from our On-Farm Network
Running some numbers
Let’s use current approximate pricing, from the Parkland area, in a scenario where we have recently booked soybean seed that will be treated with fungicide, insecticide, and liquid inoculant, and we will be seeding these soybeans with an air seeder.
What do I put for cost of seed?
When the app asks for the cost of seed per unit, enter the total cost of seed, inoculant, and seed treatment if applicable.
How much is an unit?
A unit is a bag of 140,000 seeds.
