Field Selection

For faba bean production, select fields with:

  • Medium to heavy textured soils with good water holding capacity
  • Soil test soluble salt levels less than 1.6 mmhos/cm1
  • Cereal stubble
  • Adequate phosphorus and potassium levels, low nitrogen (<50 lbs N/ac)
  • No carryover of residual herbicides (see Guide to Field Crop Protection)
